I recognise that shop - isn't that where they film the excellent Classic Wine Direct Videos?
If you’ve already watched the wine videos on the Classic Wine Direct site, then you may have noticed that the setting looks remarkably like a wine shop. Well that’s because it is. We do all our filming at the Sussux Victuallers in East Preston, West Sussex.
The shop is owned and run by Colin Bradshaw and it’s here that the idea for Classic Wine Direct took seed.
Colin is one of the founders of CWD and has been in the wine trade for over 25 years, starting his apprenticeship at the tender age of 19. He’s run the shop in East Preston for the last 4 years.
Colin remains committed to the band of Toffees that grace Goodison Park every other Saturday, being one of 6 Everton fans in East Preston (yes, he’s counted them!).
I asked Colin whether he had a favourite wine and why and in typically romantic style, this is how he responded:
I get asked this question a lot when I run wine tasting events and my usual answer is that I do not one particular favourite, I am a wine lover and I will enjoy different wines depending on where I am, what I am doing, what I am eating, what time of year it is, who I am with etc. etc.
However, I am a great fan of white Burgundy, after all these years in the business I drank what I could describe as “nectar” over Christmas lunch last. I was kindly given a magnum of Jean Dauvissat Les Preuses 1997 Chablis Grand Cru, by one of my suppliers as a thank you for doing business and I can safely say that it was sensational.
Can’t say fairer than that.
