Mahi Wines, Marlborough, New Zealand
Posted in Classic Wine Direct ProducersA great new producer in New Zealand, Brian Bicknell was head winemaker at Seresin following a good spell at Errazuriz. Mahi is his own project and looks set to be one of New Zealand’s very best. Brian is working with hand selected growers in the region and insists on low yields and hand harvesting. The wines are beautifully made food wines and have a length and complexity which we do not find that often in New Zealand. The Sauvignon is making people sit up and take notice and is one of the few examples that actually taste better the further down the bottle you get. The Chardonnay and Pinot are truly outstanding but like all these wines available in pitifully small amounts. Cloudy Bay beware!!
