Rockburn, Otago, New Zealand

Rockburn was the hobby of Richard Bunton which started in 1991. He planted a few hectares of vineyard in the the pretty rugged area of Central Otago. He first released his wines under the Hay’s Lake label in 1999 and Rockburn didn’t come into into existence until 2002. In 2005, through the guidance of Malcolm Francis the winemaker arrived from Felton Road, where he spent 4 years as assistant winemaker. He set about constructing a brand new winery for the 2006 vintage. In 2006, his skills immediately reaped the rewards when he won numerous awards.
